John Julian President & CEO

John Julian joined NextCare® Urgent Care in June 2010 as the President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Julian has over 20 years of experience successfully operating a wide range of health care services companies including medical equipment, respiratory services, pharmaceuticals, infusion therapy and urgent care. In addition, Mr Julian has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining NextCare® Urgent Care, Mr. Julian spent several years founding and operating start-up companies in the pharmacy and personal services industries and provided consulting services for mergers and acquisitions in the Health Care industry. Previously Mr. Julian held executive level positions with Lincare Holdings, the nation’s largest provider of respiratory therapy and other in-home patient services. A native of Phoenix and a graduate of the University of Arizona, Mr. Julian serves as a member of the Phoenix Thunderbirds and is a former director of the Foundation for Blind Children.
Larry Crist Jr., MBA Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Crist joined NextCare Urgent Care in 2011 as the Chief Operating Officer after previously serving as the Divisional Vice President for DaVita, Inc. Larry Crist has over nineteen years of experience in healthcare management and brings a wealth of knowledge in clinic operations and customer service to the NextCare team. Prior to DaVita, Inc., Mr. Crist served as the Corporate Vice President and Regional Vice President for Apria Healthcare. Mr. Crist has a bachelors of science in business management as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona.
Laura Becker Chief Compliance Officer

Laura Becker joined NextCare Urgent Care in February of 2009 as the Chief Legal Officer and transitioned to her role as the Chief Compliance Officer and Secretary of the Company in June of 2010. Prior to joining NextCare she was the General Counsel of Phoenix Children’s Hospital, the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for Exeter Life Sciences, a privately held international health care company, an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Arizona and a lawyer practicing healthcare law within a Phoenix area law firm. Between business school and law school Ms. Becker was a Senior Manager in the health care group of a Big 4 public accounting firm where she advised hospitals, medical facilities and government health care agencies in compliance and operations. Ms. Becker holds a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from UC – Santa Barbara, an MBA in Accounting and Finance from UCLA and a law degree from ASU. She is a licensed attorney and is certified in health care compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association.
Ken Walsh, MBA, HCM, FACHE, FHFMA Chief Financial Officer

Ken Walsh joined NextCare Urgent Care in January 2011 as the chief financial officer. Mr. Walsh brings over twenty years experience in healthcare management to the NextCare team. Most recently, Mr. Walsh has been the chief financial officer for three Iasis Healthcare facilities; including St. Luke’s Medical Center in Phoenix, Tempe St. Luke’s Medical Center and St. Luke’s Behavioral Health Center. He has also served as the chief executive officer for Southwestern Eye Center, the chief financial officer for Arizona Heart Institute and division chief financial officer for Triad Hospitals. Mr. Walsh received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Arizona State University. He received both his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and Master’s in Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix. Mr. Walsh is a Fellow of both HFMA (Healthcare Financial Management Association) and ACHE (American College of Healthcare Executives).
Michael A. Kaplan, MD National Medical Director

Dr. Kaplan joined NextCare as the East Region Medical Director in August 2011 and assumed his current role as National Medical Director in October 2012. Prior to joining NextCare Urgent Care, Dr. Kaplan spent 7 years in private practice as owner of Lake Area Urgent Care in Montgomery Texas. Prior to private practice, Dr. Kaplan was a staff physician at a hospital based urgent care system in Houston Texas. Dr. Kaplan received his Bachelor’s in Biology from Virginia Wesleyan College and obtained his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Kaplan is board certified in Family Medicine, and holds medical licensure in Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, and Arizona. Presently, Dr. Kaplan serves as a Major in the United States Army Medical Corps and is a veteran of the United States Navy.
Brian Murphy Vice President, Sales & Marketing

Brian Murphy joined NextCare® in 2009 and currently serves as vice president of sales and marketing. Mr. Murphy is a seasoned business development and alliance relations executive with a commitment to success through customer service and creativity. Before leading the national sales and marketing team at NextCare® Urgent Care, he previously served as national director of sales and marketing for Aramark Parks and Destinations, was the director of supplier marketing and strategy for Travelport/Orbitz, and was also promoted to manager of supplier relations at American Express. Mr. Murphy graduated from Arizona State University with a bachelor of science degree in finance.
Keith Marple Vice President, Reimbursement Service

Keith Marple joined NextCare® Urgent Care as regional reimbursement manager in 2003 and currently serves as the vice president of reimbursement services. Prior to joining NextCare® Urgent Care, Mr. Marple served as the Phoenix regional business office director of IASIS Healthcare; owned and operated the successful MedTrax, Inc., which provided document recovery and accounts receivable consulting for health care providers; and was the A/R manager and training coordinator for American Home Patient. Mr. Marple earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from Arizona State University.
